Overall Review:

A story about a coworker who goes missing and lore revealed during her disappearance.

I found this to be one of her less compelling stories. While I was invested per usual – the twist just seemed especially flimsy. I do appreciate that this had a different angle than her usual stranger or family member aspect.

Okay the whole concept of this book is pretty bizarre. For one, them working in vitamin sales is so random. Dawn is 100% on the spectrum and I wish they called that out. She had everything there for it, her lack of understanding social cues and hyperfixation on turtles but they never fully got there and talked about it. I think that was a misstep.

I did like that Natalie seemed to be nice at first and quickly found out she is a raging bitch…BUT why was she so mean to Dawn. Like as an adult I just wish there were more motive to be so cruel. I also think tying her to the girl they run the 5k for is genius + dating the dead girl’s brother.

What I can’t figure out is why there were so many loose ends. They both are just evil at the end and go about their day? Natalie is a bitchy thief and Dawn is a murderous crazy woman??? It just doesn’t track. Both the boys in the scenario also just go along with it?

Why did the detective not do more digging – this seems like an obvious error in judgement.

Either way, I liked reading it but less enthused than her others.
